mParivahan bags CSI eGovernance Appreciation Award -2021

The CSI SIG eGovernance Appreciation Award-2021 has been conferred on the mobile-based enforcement App mParivahan developed by NIC for Citizens at large and enforcement officials.Team Leader Sri Avijit Bhowmick, Scientist-E, along with Under Secretary, MoRTH, received the CSI award on April 23, 2022 in the Prayagraj Chapter.
mParivahan Overview

mParivahan is a mobile-based citizen-centric transport solution, launched in 2017 by MoRTH with the technical support of NIC. Since its inception, the mParivahan app has had a total download of 8.03 crores.The number of Virtual DL/RC issued using the app stands at 4.86 crores. This is the second most downloaded app-

of the Government of India after Arogya Setu. It is one of the most popular Government apps and is available in both Android and iOS versions.

 

 

This product enables anytime, anywhere access to driving license, vehicle registration and other related information/ services. It is integrated with Vahan, Sarathi, eChallan and other relevant repositories to facilitate seamless data exchange. Major functionalities include availability of Virtual DL (Driving License) and Virtual RC (Vehicle Registration Certificate), which are accepted as verifiable and legally valid paperless alternatives to physical documents.As a result, the verification/inspection/offence filing process has become paperless. There is also the

option to search any DL and RC to obtain comprehensive and up-to-date status with respect to validity, tax, permit, fitness, insurance, PUCC, offences history and other information.Transport services, online payment of taxes, reporting of traffic violations etc.

 

 

mParivahan is designed to perform the all-India RTO vehicle registration number search. It is helpful for accessing vehicle details such as insurance validity, registration certificate and driving license. This allows citizens to present their DLs and RCs in digital form in mobile phones instead of carrying the physical hard copies around. This digital form is an authentic and valid proof for the police as well.
